Paul Collier on the “bottom billion”
Recommended reading for all NGO-type-of-people (and other ideologic people). It has really put some thought about aid into my head, why the poorest billion people stays poor (despite of all the aid being put out there), and what we actual could and should do about poverty.
It’s not Twitter or Facebook that’s reinventing the planet. Eighty years after the first commercial broadcast crackled to life, television still rules our world. And let’s hear it for the growing legions of couch potatoes: All those soap operas might be the ticket to a better future after all.
